What is Guardia Surface Protection?

Guardia is a multi-layered, reusable surface protection mat designed to protect floors and hard surfaces from tools, debris, paint, liquids, dirt, and other job site hazards.

What surfaces can Guardia be used on?

Guardia® can be used on flooring, stairs, countertops, appliances, tables, furniture, plumbing fixtures, and many other hard surfaces commonly found on residential and commercial job sites.

What are the main benefits of using Guardia?

Guardia is waterproof, breathable, tear resistant, anti-slip, flexible, reusable, and easy to install. Its self-adhesive backing helps keep it securely in place while helping save installation time.

What is the difference between Guardia and Guardia Pro?

Guardia Pro is designed with an additional special absorbent layer on top of the woven material so that liquids do not pool on top while still giving it breathability and extra tearing and tensile strength.

How is Guardia installed?

Simply roll out the mat, overlap sections by approximately 4 inches (10 cm), and shape it around corners, frames, stairs, and baseboards as needed. For added security, taping the start and end of the rolls is recommended.

Do surfaces need to be prepared before applying Guardia?

Surfaces should be clean and dry before installation to ensure optimal adhesion and maximize the product's reusability.

What temperature and humidity conditions are recommended for use?

For best performance, Guardia should be used in environments between 50–86°F (10–30°C) with humidity levels below 60%.

How long can Guardia remain installed on unfinished surfaces?

To help ensure clean removal and reduce the possibility of adhesive residue, Guardia should not remain on unfinished surfaces for more than 60 consecutive days.

Can Guardia be used over freshly treated or solvent-based surfaces?

No. Guardia should not be applied to surfaces treated with solvent-based products until those materials are fully cured according to the manufacturer's recommendations and no longer emit solvent vapors.

Can Guardia be used with heated floors?

No. Floor heating systems should always be turned off before installing or using Guardia.

Is Guardia recommended for concrete or cement floors?

Guardia is not recommended for cement or concrete surfaces. Due to the mineral and polymer content of these surfaces, the adhesive layer may leave residue or may not adhere as effectively.

Can Guardia be reused?

Yes. Guardia is designed as a reusable protection solution. Cleaning the underlying surface before installation helps maintain adhesive performance for repeated use.

How many times can Guardia be re-used?

Re-using Guardia depends on many factors. If the previous job site has been properly prepared per the recommendations, the roll can be used many, many times. However, once items are spilled or the product becomes stained, re-rolling the Guardia will transfer the stain / liquid from the FRONT of the roll to the BACK of the roll, and as such will be an issue when relaid. These are considerations to keep in mind as to when the right time is to replace your Guardia protection mat.

Can Guardia be exposed to direct sunlight?

Extended exposure to direct sunlight is not recommended, as prolonged UV and heat exposure may impact performance over time.

Can heavy objects be left on top of Guardia?

Heavy objects should not remain directly on the protection mat for more than 24 hours continuously, as prolonged pressure may affect the material or adhesive performance.

How should adhesive residue or surface marks be cleaned?

If environmental conditions or extended use affect adhesion, surfaces can typically be cleaned using a soft cloth, lukewarm water, and a small amount of neutral pH soap.

Are there any safety precautions when using Guardia?

Yes. Guardia should be kept away from open flames and heat sources at all times.

Is Guardia slip-resistant for crew safety?

Yes. Guardia features an anti-slip top layer designed to provide safe footing for workers moving across the protected surface. As with any job-site product, always follow your site's PPE and walking-surface safety requirements.

Is Guardia safe to use indoors with ventilation?

Yes. Guardia is designed for residential and commercial interior job sites and does not emit solvent vapors. Standard job-site ventilation practices are recommended whenever paint, adhesives, or coatings are in use nearby.
